Bing for Iphone

Nice..I guess many people were waiting for bing to be launched on iphone.
Now iphone users have a choice and I would just might say - a better one?

It has these sections on top -
Images, Movies, Maps, Businesses, News and Directions.

An easy to navigate menu bar , and looks like bing is trying to outsmart google apps on iphone , but they have some ground to cover if not a lot.

Bing Directions

I'm impressed by the fact that bing searches for locations nearby if we don't type in complete address in destination - for example just type "dominos" in destination and it will show all the

dominos nearby and just select any one.

When I first opened they have more soft feeling when the map is loading up unlike google maps.

The above are look 'n feel & features , how it is better compared to google in directions , we'll come to know when we start using it. But many of my friends prefer bing maps already.

Bing Movies

Cool feature, it shows as expected movies playing near you . Once you click on the movie it has a phone icon to directly call the theater. I'm sure iphone users would rather prefer booking on phone rather than calling ;-)

Businesses section gives well defined categories .

Many would prefer this as the easiest way to find a nightclub nearby rather than googling it out .

Bing Voice

Great addition , I'm sure in it's present form it needs tweaking as I did not find it to be recognizing all the words that I was speaking.

Last but very handy feature are the back and forward buttons .

Overall Bing for Iphone will definitely give users more than what they have currently.I'm sure as we move along there will be improvement in features including online bookings through bing on iphone.

Nexus One

I wanted my first post to be regarding Information Security, but here I go ..could not resist writing on the new google phone buzzword that is spreading like wildfire over Internet , WSJ ,NY times and I'm sure on numerous other online news and newspapers.

Google is spreading its arms ..err..stepping into any Online technology/topic/web app that you might think of. With recent outburst against Google by Firefox guru  here  I hope they do not spread too fast or feel too big lest they smell like yesteryears Microsoft. 

Well, I have been curiously following mashable  and it has been feeding interesting news about this phone here  and we have close up  of  "nexus one" at twitpic.

If the phone is being officially released in January as per the "rumor" , then how will it change the phone landscape ? Smart phones are embedded in everyones life today and it's reach increasing with every passing day as more and more users become comfy with them , hence they become important stuff in our life...just try loosing it for a day and you'll know what I mean ;-)

So what should Nexus one have ?, here goes my Nexus one wishlist:

- Choice of Carrier .(hate those dropped calls every few minutes on iphone)

- Performance Performance Performance 

- Applications..iphone beats everyone (read Android) for now.But will be nice to have 

- Light and Thin .Don't like the industrial look for Andorid ..and thinner than iphone will be good.

- Low or "fair" Monthly charges - Iphone is a rip off.

- Battery Life.After all what's the use of phone when I have to recharge it frequently.

- Extra battery - nice to have a phone where there is an option of adding a battery or replacing one.

- Navigator - I think it's taken that if it's google they will add free navigator.

- Mail - A blackberry type mail system will be more effective.
